What Causes Loss Of Balance And Pinching Pain In Thighs?
RICE protocol, with mild sciatic injury management added should suffice
Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.
Thank you for writing to us.
I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Yes, treatment for common type 1 injuries should do the job, especially as you should not experience any swelling either in my opinion.
But in the region mentioned, the vasculature can also face some amount of pressure due to the injury you experienced and in my opinion the most plausible one of them is the sciatic nerve which runs from around the lower back down till the back of the knee.
So treatment should usually include:
+Rest (of course)
+Elastic bandage to be applied over the region through the day (but removed at night) for the next 3 months at least
+Cold compress only for the first day, followed by a warm compress for the next week or so
+Elevation of the leg when you are seated in order to prevent any possible swelling
+Use any NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs): E.g. ibuprofen, diclofenac, etc.
+Avoid strenuous physical activities
I am sure you knew most of this, but just thought I'd give you the details. I do not think you need to visit a doctor as long as you follow these instructions, but if at all the pain increases or you seem to be observing a swelling or progression of swelling then please report to a doctor.
Please also feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.
Best wishes.
NWB walking; normal elastic bandage should suffice
Detailed Answer:
Hi sir.
Walking is fine, but lets avoid maximum weight bearing; I don't think crutches would be necessary but if it helps relieve some pressure or pain from the injured leg then you can use them. But if you don't already have them, then I wouldn't want you to spend money and buy them. :)
Avoid bending over as it can cause some amount of strain on the injured region, but sitting should not be avoided. You can also place a donut cushion under your bottom and be seated if this helps.
Not really, a normal elastic bandage should help as it keeps the anatomical structures in place and promotes healing in their natural positions.
Hope this helps sir, within you a speedy and complete recovery.
Best wishes.
