Yes the abdominal wall muscles. I recently went to the er with abdominal pains. I thought it was appendicitis or a kidney stones. However upon ct Scan it showed everything was good and normal. However the doc said it was a strain of the abdominal wall muscles.
Brief Answer:
Have you been doing any intense exercises?
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this clarification.
I will like to know if you have been doing any intense physical exercises that entail using the abdominal muscles. If this is the case, then it is possible that you could have an abdominal muscle strain. If this is not the case, this would be very unlikely.
Muscle strain pain would not be severe to make you think it was possible appendicitis unless it happened right then during intense exercising. Pain related to muscle strain is often a dull pain. Healing depends on the degree of tear and how much rest you can afford to take without straining the muscle. It generally gets better with 3-5days and gradually disappears over a few weeks. Pain medications like Tylenol and ibuprofen, applying ice packs and resting the muscles are the principal strategies for managing this. If these fail to control the pains, then further evaluation is needed to make sure we are not missing out on some other thing.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you s much for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

No I drive flatbed semi and I bought a heavy set of tarps weighing around 170 lbs and lifted them myself. Again upon my request of the er doctor they did a ct Scan. And the muscle strain happened after I lifted those tarps. I exercise often but not strenuously . Therefore I feel as if it is a muscle strain and I appreciate your help and time in this matter.

one last question sir. when someone has a strain in the abdominal wall muscles can that lead to a hernia. I mean anything can cause a hernia but can a strain make it easier and can I still go about my normal day things just no lifting
Brief Answer:
Not very likely but, Yes!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this follow up.
You can go about your normal days activities. Simply avoid activities that would require that you contract the abdominal muscles.
A strain would not necessarily lead to hernia. However, persons who suffer strain are the same who do heavy exercises involving the abdominal muscles and this in itself is a major risk for hernia. Please, always avoid carrying too heavy loads all at once. try to divide into small portions or get help from other.
