How Long Should I Continue Norflox TZ Tablets For Diarrhea And Gas?

Question: Hi Doctor, Yesterday I had some loose motions and gas problems due to a dinner at home ( Home cooked food). I took Norflox TZ two tablets during the day and am perfectly OK now. But someone tells me to take the full course of 6 tablets ( three days) which seems unnecessary right now. Your advise please

Hello
Most of the diarrhoeas are either due to viral infection or related to food toxins.
If your loose motions have settled you need not complete the six day course as the diarrhoea was probably not bacteria related..

In that case suppose we had taken Imodium (instead of Norflox TZ) and the loose motions had stopped (which was not very serious in any case), would that have been even better than taking two unnecessary tablets of an antibiotic like Norflox TZ.?

Hello
Can take immodium if there is no fever, abdominal pain or blood in stools. If these are present then antibiotics are indicated
