How Peritoneal Dialysis Done?
no, in peritonium no fistula is created
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome again to HealthcareMagic.
Fistulas are created only for hemodialysis, and yes they take about 3 months to mature/heal before they can be used.
In peritoneal dialysis no fistula is needed. Here the dialysis catheter is inserted into the peritoneal cavity under anaesthesia and through it dialysis fluid is pumped into the cavity. The fluid stays there for a few hours and is then pumped out. This can be done soon after placement of the catheter. No waiting period is needed.
For hemodialysis, if done via an plastic catheter inserted into a large central vein, can be done immediately after insertion of the catheter.
Hope i have been helpful.

I really want the abdominal one for hemodialysis, I got the arm fistula because Doctor insisted ( I hope to NEVER USE IT) So, there's no healing time necessary for abdominal, it can be used right away?
yes abdominal can be used immediately
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Yes abdominal one can be used immediately.
Its all your preference. I had just told you all the available options. Its always your decision.
For hemodialysis, central line dialysis catheter are available, made of plastic. From that dialysis can be done immediately after its insertion.
