How Serious Is Soft Tissue Injury In A Child?
Question: There's elbow injury and the X-ray report says a) no bone injury b) osteopenia present c) soft tissue swelling present... Is there anything serious as this for my six year old son
Brief Answer:
There is nothing serious.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for your query.
Since the bony injuries have been ruled out, a soft tissue injury is likely. There is nothing serious. He need to avoid massaging the area and take a mild pain killer for relief. Do a cold compress on the area of injury.
The pain and swelling might take over a week to subside. In case there is an acute pain and a sudden increase in swelling then consult your physician for a direct examination to rule out any infection in the area.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care

Brief Answer:
Needs physiotherapy (range of motion exercise)
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
From your description it seems that there is stiffness at elbow. It is common after injury due to immobilization. He needs physiotherapy (range of motion exercise) to reduce the stiffness.
I suggest you to consult your doctor for examination of elbow of your son and further management according to that.
Warm regards.
