How Should Lipikind Be Taken To Keep Cholesterol In Control?
Question: Hello Doctor, this actually has to be a follow up question to what I asked earlier, but I closed the answer.
My father had CABG on 30th April. He is using Lipikind 20mg for keeping cholesterol in control. My question is - How long does he need to take the medicine? Does he have to take this medicine even when the cholesterol is under control?

Detailed Answer:
Dear sir
The lipikind contains atorvastatin, which is a cholesterol lowering drug.
After CABG, it should be taken life long unless there is some problem associated with its use.
It is one of the three drugs which decrease death rate after CABG, two other drugs are aspirin and beta-blockers. The drug needs to be continued even if cholesterol levels come within desired range. Its dose may be increased or decreased depending upon requirement.
