How To Check If Pill Is Stuck In Nasal Cavity?
Question: My birth control pill feels as if it has gone up into my nasal cavity rather than down my throat. I took the pill about 11 and a half hours ago and still have this feeling. How can I stop this feeling. Is it likely that my pill has dissolved? I am married, but we are not planning on pregnancy for a few years.

Hi,
Thank you for your query.
1. Get a check nasal endoscopy done. If the pill is in the nasopharynx, it will be easily seen.
2. The pill is unlikely to dissolve so soon if it has been regurgitated into the nose.
3. Since the soft palate is a XXXXXXX structure and as the nasopharynx has no complete floor, it is possible that the pill will not remain stuck in the nasopharynx. The feeling may be a result of the transient regurgitation.
I hope that I have answered your queries. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.
Regards.

Thank you for your answer. Is it possible that the pill is now ineffective for the next week?
Brief Answer:
As below:
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for writing back.
1. If the pill has been swallowed, it will be effective.
2. If it is stuck in the nose, it will not be effective.
3. It is important for you to get the the nasal endoscopy and confirm that the pill is not stuck in the nose/ nasopharynx. This will also prevent sudden accidental aspiration of the pill into the airway, which may be life-threatening.
I hope that I have answered your queries. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.
