Suggest Remedy For Elongated Uvula

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... My husband had elogated uvula two days back went to a doctor , and she didi blood test and strep throat test , everything was normal, so she asked us to take bendryl. one day continuous dosage of endaryl helped it a bit ,and that was back to normal. we thought it could be because of fish he ate otehr day. he is allergic to shrimp, but was not to fish ever before. two days later now he has littel bulging on his neck it suddenly appeared after he had his dinner. i have made soem cauliflower in teh same bowl i used for fish.. but it was washed , rinsed, and drined properly. coulde it still be because of his fish allergy

Hi,

The elongated uvula can be due to many reasons:
Local trauma by food, hot drink
Allergy to anything causing angio-neurotic edema
Fish and other sea foods are known to cause allergy

Anything under the sun including the sun can cause allergy hence it is you and your husband who have to observe and notice the factors, foods, beverages that cause such a problem. The neck swelling may be due to reactive lymph node reaction.

If he is not diabetic then oral steroids should also be given and kept ready along with antihistamine with him on his person all the time. Get the relevant blood tests done like IgE and so on. Once a cause is found he has to avoid these at any cost. Washed bowl with another preparation will not cause any problem, as it is not heard of till now, so do not worry.
