Brief Answer:
Information on controlling Hairloss

Detailed Answer:
Hair loss and hair thinning in your age group are normally due to 2 things

1) Poor nutrition / Vitamin deficiencies
2) Stress.. mental and physical

You need to look into these two issues to see what is going on. We have good nutritionists here that can help you with a diet plan.

Here are some special tips to help improve your nutritional intake specifically to prevent hairloss.

1. Eat at least 3-4 different fruits saplings per day. Every fruit is good but you can make a combination of sour with sweet fruits such as oranges, papaya and other of seasonal fruits.

2. Pulses are good source of proteins. So everyday have a small bowel full of mixed pulses. Add green leafy vegetables additionally in the pulses which contains lot of iron and vitamins in it.

3. Sprouts are the best source of fibers, minerals especially iron, vitamins and proteins too. so add it at-least alternate day if you can not make in every-day's part of meal.

4. Over night soaked and peeled almonds will give you good vitamin E which is good for the hair growth.

5. Milk and milk products should be included in every-day's schedule.

6.Do light exercises, reduce your work stress as all these have bit impact on skin so also on scalp skin.

If the stress is the problem. We need to look into meditation and yoga they help the most in younger patients.

Now, from a more medical perspective, if you hair is falling out in patches or your scalp is very itchy.. then you might have an infection or other skin issue causing the hairfall..

The last thing is.. Some baldness is genetic. Male pattern baldness is such that the hair falls from the sides leaving a crown of hair. That kind of hairloss cannot really been stopped

Let me know what is going on. I hope this helps

Brief Answer:
You need at least 8 hours.

Detailed Answer:
At your age. I would say you are not getting enough sleep. I would say you need at least 8. There is some variability from person to person.. so you should experiment by setting your alarm later and trying to sleep in by an hour. Sleep deficits are linked with lower bloodflow to the scalp and with increased hairloss. So your theory may be true.

But a more insidious problem for most people is the QUALITY of the sleep that they do get.

Even if you sleep for 8 hours a night if there is lots of noise or light in your environment, or if you fall asleep under the influence of nicotine or alcohol.. the sleep QUALITY will be horrible and would be just as bad as not sleeping at all.

I'm not saying you smoke or you drink.. I'm just giving examples. Why don't you try these simple tips for improving the quality of your sleep. The basic concept is called SLEEP HYGIENE and there is plenty of solid clinical research to show that this helps.

1) Avoid napping during the day. It can disturb the normal pattern of sleep and wakefulness.
2) Avoid stimulants such as caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol too close to bedtime. While alcohol is well known to speed the onset of sleep, it disrupts sleep in the second half as the body begins to metabolize the alcohol, causing arousal.

3) Exercise can promote good sleep. Vigorous exercise should be taken in the morning or late afternoon. A relaxing exercise, like yoga, can be done before bed to help initiate a restful night's sleep.

4) Food can be disruptive right before sleep. Stay away from large meals close to bedtime. Also dietary changes can cause sleep problems, if someone is struggling with a sleep problem, it's not a good time to start experimenting with spicy dishes. And, remember, chocolate has caffeine.

5) Ensure adequate exposure to natural light. This is particularly important for older people who may not venture outside as frequently as children and adults. Light exposure helps maintain a healthy sleep-wake cycle.

6) Establish a regular relaxing bedtime routine. Try to avoid emotionally upsetting conversations and activities before trying to go to sleep. Don't dwell on, or bring your problems to bed.

7) Associate your bed with sleep. It's not a good idea to use your bed to watch TV, listen to the radio, or read.

8) Make sure that the sleep environment is pleasant and relaxing. The bed should be comfortable, the room should not be too hot or cold, or too bright.

I hope this helps you.

Brief Answer:
Mintop is a possibility, but short term

Detailed Answer:
Hey XXXXXXX

There is a drug called Minoxidil. Its present in a Shampoo preparation called Mintop (there may be other brands as well, the drug is generically called Minoxidil).

What Minoxidil does (when it comes in contact with Skin) is increase bloodflow to the skin. This generally helps hairgrowth. So when it is used as a shampoo, most people report an increase in thickness and rate of growth of hair.

The problem is that the results are strictly temporary... after you stop using the shampoo... the hair that was newly grown rapidly falls out. So, if you want to try this.. please be aware of the temporary nature of the hairgrowth.

Other than that, if you have patchy or itchy scalp skin... then you may need to go to a dermatologist to have that examined.

Hope this helps you.
