Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for the query.
I understand your concern. Yes, use of Acrylic XXXXXXX can damage nail health
Soft fingernails are a sign of wrong use, nutritional deficiencies. To harden soft fingernails I would advise following things.
1) Nails are made of protein Keratin. When we dip our hands in water, the keratin tends to swell, & during drying process keratin shrinks & makes the nails soft.
2) Similarly when nails come in contact with chemicals (washing powder/ due to profession/ at house hold work, the keratin is denatured making it soft/fragile.
3) Exposure to excessive heat/cold can damage finger nails & make them soft.
* To avoid these things, you have to-
- use hand gloves,
- cover the nails with oil
4) Nail biting / pulling the cuticles damages the nails. They should be carefully cut with nail cutters. It is also a sign of psychological stress.
* In order to leave the habit of nail biting, self determination as well as stress management is essential.
5) Nutritional deficiencies- Turn the nails soft
* A high protein diet with Zink& biotin (from Soybean/ nonevegeterian food, milk, pulses), sufficient greens (Iron), Fruits/salads/sprouts/fish/milk (for iron, vitamins) & whole cereals /milk /milk products (minerals, calcium)-should provide nutrients to improve nail health.
- Supplements in form of pills can be added.
6) Nail polishing. It causes dehydration of nails.
* -to avoid a base coat is advised before putting nail polish.
- Always try to purchase protein based nail polish,
- before changing nail polish / after bath a hand massage with moisturizer maintains the moisture in nails & keeps them healthy.
7) in case of nail infection, consult a skin specialist.
With proper nutrition & care your nails will return to their normal healthy condition.
I hope the answer is informative & useful to you.
Any follow up query is welcome ,
Thanks.
