Brief Answer:
Total amount of food more important than food components

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on healthcaremagic. Ideally total blood cholesterol level should be less than 200 mg/dl and levels of LDL below 70 mg/dl. On the other hand HDL is good cholesterol which helps in reducing LDL levels. Flaxseed is considered healthy due to the fact that they contain Omega-3 fatty acids and thereby helps in increasing HDL levels, Lignans, rich in antioxidants and estrogen content; and fibre which reduces the amount of fat absorbed. Hence it is good to consume flax seeds but I would prefer it to be taken at dinner. A combination of olive oil and rice XXXXXXX oil gives a balance between MUFA and PUFA and is hence benificial but I assure you that taking soya oil would also be reasonably good and you can use any of these as your cooking oil and it would be fine. You are on the right path and so you need not worry.

I would suggest you to take medicines like atorvastatin which help in reducing the blood lipids. Let me ask you to reduce the total amount of carbohydrate intake (cereals) as the excess often gets converted into cholesterol. Controlling the total amount of food intake will automatically reduce the total amount of fat intake as well as amount converted into fat. It has be backed up with proper exercise and morning walk. A bit of awareness is all you need to stay healthy and to control the lipid levels.
