Brief Answer: You may be having androgenetic alopecia. Detailed Answer: Hi XXXXXXX As you said, your maternal uncle is having hairloss, most probably male pattern baldness. You are likely to have the same disease, as it is genetically inherited disease. As there is hormonal influence, it is called androgenetic alopecia. If the hairloss is embarassing, you may start proper treatment after consulting dermatologist. If you have mild problem, do not start treatment. Just improve the mental, physical and scalp hygiene. You do exercise, meditation and yoga. Improve the diet increasing vitamins and antioxidants containing diet. Keep the mind cool, avoid worries, tension and stress. Take prope sleep. If you have dandruff, you may use ketoconazole containing shampoo daily till you get good result, after that you may use herbal shampoo. To improve hair texture, you may apply almond oil in dry hairs. If you have really androgenetic alopecia , you start finesteride tab 1 mg daily in the morning and biotin tab 10 mg daily at night for few months or till you get good result. Vitamin E and antioxidants may be taken. Apply minoxidil 10% solution in dry scalp twice a day for long time. This should be done under observation of dermatologist. You may get good result. I hope you got my answer. Thanks. Dr.Ilyas Patel MD
