How To Recognise Implantation Bleeding?

default
Posted on Tue, 26 Apr 2016
Question: We have been married for 5 years and are now trying for a baby for the last 3 months. My wife has regular period cycle of 26 days and she had the regular cycles past 2 months. However, this month she got a delayed period by 2 days that is her period was on the 28th day from the first day of her last period. The flow wasn't heavy or normal and actually she had light flow which contained light pink or dark brown patches in her pad. When I checked the website, I found that this could be implantation bleeding and the first sign of pregnancy. Should I take her to the doctor for any confirmation, please suggest.

Brief Answer:
Could be but it must be confimerd by UPT.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM.

I have read your query and understand your concern.

A light pink or dark brown discharge could mean an implantation bleeding caused by pregnancy since you are sexually active and trying for a baby.

So, if your wife's periods are late by 2 days and since you are sexually active, then it may mean pregnancy.

So get the pregnancy test (urine pregnancy test at home) done to rule out pregnancy.

Sometimes a brown discharge could mean some illness like pelvic inflammatory disease but in such a situation one would suffer from unusually smelly vaginal discharge, pain abdomen, fever, burning sensation while passing urine, pain during sex but I will NOT think about this possibility right now.

Your wife can check urine pregnancy test at home for confirmation and there is NO need to see doctor at present.

However, once the pregnancy is confirmed then you can see doctor.

I hope I have answered your query.
