Brief Answer:
Oral biotin, Topical Minoxidil are medications that might help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for posting on HCM.

I appreciate your concern regarding hair fall.
Hair fall is usually ascribed to multiple factors like diet and nutrition, hormones, stress, acute or chronic medical conditions, drugs, cosmetic products etc.

From your description, it seems you might be having early stage of female pattern hair loss which is due to your hormones or tractional alopecia from constant pull/force on hair due to particular hairstyle.

If I were your dermatologist/trichologist, I would like to take through history including family history, history of recent major trauma/illness/stress/medications etc, your menstrual history and recommend some basic investigations like CBC,blood sugar,Thyroid function test.

Also certain specific tests like hairpull test, dermoscopy, trichogram can help help us in specific diagnosis.

I would suggest you a course of oral tablets containing biotin and other essential vitamins and minerals for minimum 6 months.

Also, would put you on solution containing 5% minoxidil once a day and a hair serum containing peptides for hair growth at night

I would advise use of gentle shampoo and conditioner on regular basis and use of coconut oil twice a week.

Also enquire from your dermatologist about upcoming treatment options like mesotherapy and platelet-rich plasma.

Avoid combing in wet hair and let them dry by wrapping in towel. Avoid blow dryers and hair-color/dyes. Take plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet and try to de-stress your routine life.

Still for better understanding, I would insist you to post some clinical pictures for review at following email ID: YYYY@YYYY with the subject titled 'Attn : Dr Hardik Pitroda'.

Wish you best of health.
Thank you

I will forward a pix shortly. I have a weave on at d moment. But I got a picture online that looks exactly like my hair. Some of my maternal relatives have same hair loss problems so I think it's hereditary. If it is, can the drugs work? And how can I get them to buy in Nigeria.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
Yes the medications will definitely help but the important thing you must understand that it is a ongoing process dictated by your hormones and genetics so even after you get good results you will have to maintain on minimal medication like Minoxidil solution till old age.
The only permanent solution is hair transplantion.
For medications you will have to see some dermatologist in Nigeria and discuss about all the medications I have mentioned here.
Thank you
