Question: I have been taking 1/2 a tablet of zoloft 100g for quite a few years. No side effects except for increased sweating and a slight tremor in my hands. Should I try to wean myself off from it. I take a half a tablet every morning. Marge

Brief Answer:
Suggest gradual withdrawal by your doctor

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear. Thanks for giving me an opportunity to address your query.

Normally our brain adopts to most of antidepressant drugs when they are used for more than 6 weeks.Few (one is six) experience withdrawal symptoms(anxiety, headache, dizziness, fatigue etc) when the drug is stopped suddenly.I were to recommend gradual tapering of the dose over to avoid these ill effects of withdrawal under medical supervision.

I were to gradually withdraw the drug by halving it dose at particular time intervals(every 2-4 weeks) matching this with your symptom profile and gradually wean you off the drug.Monitoring is required to check whether the symptoms can come back once the drug is completely stopped.

Hope this answers your query.
