Hello XXXXXXX
Thanks for the query
Your grandson seems to be having umbilical hernia which occurs because of defect in umbilical ring.
This ring normally closes by the time child is born but in 3% of live births this ring fails to close at the time of birth and hence the defect.
The best part is nothing to worry about it and surgical repair of the defect is rarely needed as most cases resolve by the age of 3 years.
There is no requirement of hernia belt and you should not worry about it.
Just keep on regular check with the pediatrician.
Any further information is welcome.
Wish you and your grandson best of health.
Thanks
