Irregular Heartbeat In A Child, Nasal Polyps, Inflammed Head And Neck. Can This Be Cystic Fibrosis?

Question: My 6 year old son has a irregular hearbeat and now has nasal polyps, he doesnt have a cold or cough, but all of his lymph nodes in his head and neck are inflamed, Im so worried about cystic fibrosos, as every where says that these are symptoms. but he is other wise a healthy boy.

I was wondering why you selected your specialty as oncologist when the query is related to cystic fibrosis.
Irregular heart beat needs to be defined from the ECG as there are at least 20 types of irregular heart beats, commonest being normal irregularity that is seen with breath in and out, is called sinus arrhythmia and may not need any therapy.
Lymph nodes in head and neck area drain the tongue, tonsils and throat mainly, but even the site and size of nodes also has lots to say about this. It would be more beneficial if you could provide a pic with markings for site of nodes over head.neck.
Inflamed nodes with be swollen and painful, and may be due to viral or bacterial infections of throat. if the lymph nodes are large for months then only is worry about chronic or serious disease.
Cystic fibrosis is not related to nasal polyp, it does have long term respiratory and GI symptoms along with failure to thrive (growth failure), so may be currently you may relax and provide details about nodes as mentioned above.
