![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: My Streptolysin O AntibodyTest came back at 864; what exactly does that mean? I haven't heard back from my dr yet.
Brief Answer:
Needs further clinical evaluation and correlation.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
Streptococcus is a bacteria that can cause skin infections. It can produce Streptolysin O Antibody or ASO. The ASO test is primarily used to help determine whether you had a recent strep infection with group A Streptococcus. It could be related to:
- glomerulonephritis, a form of kidney disease
- rheumatic fever in a person with signs and symptoms
The ASO titre in your case is positive and needs clinical correlation and further evaluation. Among other tests, anti-DNase B could be checked for.
