Posted on Mon, 5 Jan 2015
Question: I am having extreme knee pain and a friend has offered me colchicine but I take synthroid 0.125 mg, hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg, and panatoprazole 40 mg. Is it ok to take the colchicine with these other drugs?

Brief Answer:
no interaction

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

There are no known interactions between these 4 medications but colchicine is normally used to treat gout , behcet syndrome and FMF (familial mediterranean fever).

It is not normally used to treat the cartilage damage associated with arthritis. Though it has anti inflammatory properties (and would therefore help to reduce your inflammation) , it does not have pain relieving effects so it would not help in this aspect.

You would still need to use a pain med with it if you decide to use it.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
