Is Epilex Chrono The Right Medication For Convulsion?
Sedation is common with epilex chrono
Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for writing through HCM.
I have read your query and understood your concerns.
First of all, we have look for the convulsion attack that is seizure recently. Whether he has travelled a lot? whether he has kept fast? whether he slept less before the episode? Anything that causes physical and mental stress, will precipitate the seizure even the person is on medications.
I think he was on right dosage of gardinal and epsolin. He does not require epilex chrono. You can also go for EEG [electroencephalogram] of your son when he is on gardinal and epsolin to find out thaat these drugs are working or not.
If epilex chrono is causing more sedation then it must be given extended release preparation at night only. He at least require 750 to 1000 mg of epilex chrono. Dosage will be increased by your doctor. Other options that are less sedative are add on therapy like leviteracetam, lamotrigine, topiramate etc.
Discuss these suggestions with your doctor. Do not make change in the dosage without his permission.
Give answers to my initial questions.
Hope I have answered your query. I am waiting for your reply.
