Is HIV Testing Safe To Do Prior To Dental Surgery?
Question: Hi, I had a dental surgery (a wisdom tooth removed) at the end of April. I am also due for a physical exam in the middle of May. The state where I live does an HIV test by default. Would the results of that test be affected (false negative, false positive, etc.) one way or another by the fact that I had my dental surgery?
Brief Answer:
The test result will not be affected.
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXX,
Welcome to HCM.
It is mandatory in all surgical procedures to do HIV testing as per safety precautions of health care staff nothing else and its result will not be affected by the fact that you are undergoing for surgery so don't worry and forget about HIV.
Thank You

Hi Doc,
I did not mean to imply that I might have contracted the virus during the dental procedure (I am sorry if it came out that way). What I meant was that the HIV test that I am going to have as part of my physical will not be false positive or false negative due to the surgery and my recovery from it.
