Is HRT Recommended For Bone Health And Heart Disease Prevention?
Question: I am 69 years old and have been on HRT for over 20 years,,,Provera and Premarin.
I went off these a few years back as scientists said it causes breast cancer and bowel cancer. (Had bowell cancer when I was 33 years.)Then they changed and said the opposite so I went back on these. I am borderline type 2 diabetes, normal weight, normal sugar levels but sometimes have problem with giddiness. I also take Aspirin, Mirtazon, Fexo 180, Crosuva and Vitamins D and Calcuim and multi vitamins.
Should I wean myself off the HRT.

Brief Answer:
What symptoms do you have now.
Detailed Answer:
Good day.
Noted your question. Hormone replacement treatment is a controversial subject indeed. the benefit is only to prevent hot flushes and such symptoms. it is not recommended for bone health or prevention of heart disease. at your age.I would not recommend to restart HRT as the risks are more than benefits at this age( 69 years). However, it is good to get a calcium and vitamin D level done as well as a DXA scan to assess bone strength.
