Hi, I am a 40 year old woman of slender build and am fairly healthy except for a hypothyroid condition for which I take a hormone replacement. I used to have recurring sinus infections over many many years - which included severe pain and excessive mucous production. I have mostly stopped getting those infections however I have had a mild swelling above one eyebrow for a few years now. It almost seems like there is a fluid sac or fluid in the sinus. However I don t have pain there, just some mild heat. I also experience swelling in the nose and some congestion but not really much pain. I do feel that the nose is often mildly irritated from the congestion I think. I have gotten no answer from G.P.s and the only ENT I saw for my last real infection, did not pay any attention to the swelling in my forehead and just gave me a saline rinse. What could this consistent swelling and mild irritation be? Is it possible that I have a fungal or some other growth?
I read carefully your query and understand your concern.
In my opinion your symptoms are more related to an allergic rhinitis. I suggest using antihistamines such as Cetirizine 10mg daily. I also suggest using a steroid nasal spray to relieve the nasal congestion . If the symptoms continue, I suggest to see an allergist and get evaluated.
Hope my answer was helpful.
