Is Hydrogen Peroxide Safe To Apply On Folliculitis?
Question: I bought a hydrogen peroxide bottle from the medical store which reads on the label that it is 5% to 7% H2O2 and mentions not for medicinal use. I want to apply it to the area where I have folliculitis after a wash. Is it okay to use this bottle I purchased ? Should i be diluting it?
Brief Answer:
dilute 1:1

Hello. Thank you for writing to us
I am dr.kakkar(dermatologist). I have gone through your query and i have noted your concern
Dilute it 1:1 with water. It should be used in about 3% strength for cuts and infections.

Thanks for your response. After waahing the scalp with mild soap and water, I can apply it?
Should I wash it off after application? Is it harmful to hair?

Brief Answer:
Use a topical antibacterial ointment instead of H2O2 on scalp
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
No. Please dont use it on scalp. H2O2 is a bleaching agent and is harsh and drying to hair.
If you want to use something for scalp folliculitis I would suggest a topical antibacterial ointment e.g neosporin ointment, twice daily.
