What Causes Itchy Rash On The Groin And Anus?

I have a rash between my groin, thigh and right above my anus which produced open lesions. I used Neosporin and it healed so i thought. but all it did was act as a pacifier calming the severe itching. I have been bathing every night to keep it under control. When i sweat it or get nervous it itches crazily. I am 180lbs, age 35 and i have no known medical problems except for hernia at age 10.

Hello,

You are suffering from itchy rash on the groin and anus. You are suggested to take care of your hygiene. Take bath regularly. Do not touch, scratch or pop the area affected as it may trigger spread. Clean the area affected thoroughly with medicated soap and water. To reduce itching you can apply a thin layer of hydrocortisone ointment. on the area affected.

Always wear soft cotton clothes. Keep the area affected dry and cool, in case you sweat, change your undies and clothes immediately. Fungal infection grows and spreads quickly in moist and warm private area and is very itchy. To control the spread you can apply ointment Clotrimazole on the affected area. You can also take a course of antifungal medicine orally.

The symptoms are caused by jock itch (tinea cruris), a fungal infection. Sometimes, when it is resistant, it may take time to go away. Then you may have to take a repeat dose of the medicines. Stay away from addictions if any. control you blood glucose level to get better and faster healing. Avoid sexual activity or self pleasuring for a couple of days till the infection is being treated.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
