Posted on Mon, 13 Mar 2017
Question: I'm a 70yo female with RLS. Having been taken off mirapex for OCD and neurontin because of limited decrease of rls S/S. The doc. has given me a Rx for Lyrica. I have a epi retinal membrane due to be operated on in May. Is Lyrica safe for me to use? Cherryl

Brief Answer:
No harm in my opinion, still better to speak to operating surgeon on this

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. In my opinion, as the epiretinal membrane is predominantly just scar tissue, lyrica (active ingredients pregabalin) should not really effect it in anyway.

But it would still be most wise to discuss with your operating surgeon on whether or not it would be fine to use lyrica. I feel it would be wiser to do so although there should be no harm in my opinion.

I hope you find my response helpful. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
