Is Minera Insertion Safe And Effective In Treatment Of Adenomyosis?

Question: Recently m detected with bulky uterus in size A 54 * 43 mm heterogenous area noted in fundal posterior region. Uterus measures are 94*55*64 mm. My doc suggested me to insert minera. Is their any side effects of this? Will this be effective? Is this serious condition? And can be this cured?

Before answering your query I want to ask some questions-
- are you having heavy vaginal bleeding or any other symptoms?
- What is the cause of bulky uterus?- fibroid/ adenomyosis/ hormonal (your local doctor might know about the cause)

Minera is IUCD containing levonorgestrel is usually safe when inserted by an expert. Usual side effects are hormone related- menstrual irregularities, weight gain etc.
In my opinion first rule out the cause of bulky uterus and then plan for minera.

The symptoms I had is severe pain during my periods.and is detected as Adenomyosis. I have a kid of 4 yrs and the reason for bulky uterus is unknown.may be pregnancy lead to this disease.

Yes! mirena IUCD sometimes quite effective in adenomyosis treatment. It decreases pain and bleeding associated with adenomyosis. If mirena fails to treat your symptoms then you should think for endometrial ablation and hysterectomy.

Hi Thank you for the feedback. I read that lots of people are having issues with minera. Not sure how it will react on me (+vely or -vely). Will minera cure adenomyosis completely or I have go with Endometrial Ablation.Can i concieve again with adenomyosis?

Yes! effect of Minera can vary from person to person.
No, Minera will not completely cure the disease. You may need Endometrial ablation also.
Hysterectomy is the definite treatment of Adenomyosis( if patient has completed their family).

Adenomyosis can affect fertility ( because it is usually associated with endometriosis).
You can conceive only when growth of uterine lining is decreased by treatment. ( chances are very less).
