Question: Hi I am a 28 year old male did oral sex on a girl . At 3 weeks after the exposure i got tested at a local clinic for hiv with Alere deternime finger prick result was negative .At 6 weeks i tested my self with oraquick result was negative 6 1/2 weeks affter exposure i had a full blood work Std all negative and HIV bioplex 2200 HIV ag-ab result was non reactive . Should i continue to be worried ?
Brief Answer:
Please don't worry! There is no risk for HIV and STD.
Detailed Answer:
Hello! I have been through your question.
You should know that alere Determine HIV 1/2 Ag/Ab Combo and bioplex 2200 HIV Ag/AB, are very accurate tests.
So, based on that your tests (oraquick and alere determine hiv and bioplex 2200 HIV AG/AB) are negative and that the risk of getting HIV from performing oral sex on someone with HIV is very low(HIV is not passed on in saliva) I think that you are mostly negative and you shouldn't continue to be worry.
Also having a negative results for STD after 6 weeks I think is a good news and no need for other tests.
I hope my answer helps you.
Feel free to ask me further.
Regards.

Thanks Just today at 8 weeks post exposure i did another oraquick swab test and negative as well .
Do you think oraquick is reliable at 8 weeks ?
Do you think oraquick is reliable at 8 weeks ?
Brief Answer:
Yes I think that oraquick is sufficiently reliable at 8 weeks.
Detailed Answer:
Hello! Thank you writing back in healthcaremagic.
I am sorry for my late response.
Related your concern I think that oraquick is sufficiently reliable after 8 weeks of exposure.
In other words, it would be very very unusual that someone would test negative at 8 weeks and positive at 12.
So based on that the risk of getting HIV from performing oral sex on someone with HIV is extremely low and in other negative HIV test results that you have done before( plus oraquick after 8 weeks) definitely I think that you are free of HIV.
I hope my answer helps you.
I wish you a good health.
Regards.
