Is PSA Level Of 5 A Cause For Concern?

Question: Told that my prostate is mushy. My PSA was at 6 and dropped to 5. ( Years ago it was at 3.2 and slowly rose) I have also had 3 biopsies, the last 15 months ago and all came back negative with regards to cancer. Only comment was that it is soft in one area (mushy). So what does this all mean ? And how often should I have the biopsy done?
Brief Answer:
Unlikely to be cancer
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
This is very much unlikely to turn into cancer. PSA is not very high and is stable, actually reducing. Biopsies were negative. So, unless PSA rises, there is no need for repeat biopsies.
Medically, there is no term as mushy prostate. So I can't really say what you mean by that. Probably a part is softer than the rest. So there is nothing to worry. It doesn't suggest predisposition to cancer.
Hope this helps.
