Is Utovlan Suitable While Experiencing Prolonged Bleeding?
Question: Hello, I've been taking the desogestrel pill for the past 9 months, but have experienced prolonged bleeding so my GP prescribed utovlan. While this has stopped the bleeding, I am concerned about its effect on the effectiveness of my contraceptive pill. Can you please advise? Thank you

I have been advised that the utovlan may help to reset my cycle, and that the bleeding pattern could improve?
If it does not, I should consider an alternative pill. I cannot use a combined pill due to experiencing migraine with aura. My previous pill was trinovum, which I believe contains norethisterone? Should I ask for a progesterone only pill containing this? Or is there another pill which would be more suitable?
