Brief Answer:
The kind of progesterone in Cerazette has never been tested as an EC

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and I hope I can help you today.

The main brand of emergency contraceptive pill, usually called Plan B, contains the hormone Levonorgestrel, which is a kind of progesterone.

Cezarette contains a different kind of progesterone, called Desogestrel, which has not been tested as an emergency contraceptive, so no one knows if it would be effective or at which dose.

Therefore, I would not recommend using Cezarette as an emergency contraceptive.

You can use any other brand of combined (containing both estrogen and progesterone) oral contraceptives as emergency contraception- you just need to take enough pills to total 100 micrograms of estrogen.

Otherwise, I would recommend you purchase the Plan B and follow the package directions. It is most effective if taken within 72 hours from unprotected sex, but it still can reduce the risk of pregnancy for up to 5 days.

I hope I was able to adequately answer your question ofay and that this information was helpful. If you need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best wishes,

Dr. Brown
