Is A Hard Lump On Right Groin A Symptom Of Lymphoma?
Question: I have this morning found a hard lump the size of amarble in my right groin. I have for the past 3 years diagnosed lichen sclerosis and VIN3. I have been seen by a gynaecologist at Derriford Hospital Plymouth on a 6 monthly basis and usually have a colposcopy under local anaesthetics. I was diagnosed with stage 2, grade 2 breast cancer in XXXXXXX 2003 with spread to the lymph nodes and had total axillary removal on the right side. I also have had pan Crohn's Colitis for some 47 years, with numerous surgeries (laparatory, hemi-colectomy, ileostomy, reversal of ileostomy in 2015. I have also had Leishmaniasis (when living in southern Spain), erysipelas and Mondor's disease of the right breast. My husband is terminally ill and currently in hospital with various cancers, heart and kidney failure. Could this be lymphoma and if so, which discipline of medicine will be appropriate please and I will get a private appointment at the Nuffield in Plymouth.

Brief Answer:
may not be lymphoma
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
Marble sized lymph nodes are quite common in groin, usually they are not due to cancer or lymphoma. But if it is hard then we need to investigate further.
First step would be to do a clinical examination and if suspicious, we should get a fine needle aspiration from it. Most likely it would be reactive but if not, then appropriate treatment can be initiated.
I think you can get in touch with internal medicine (general medicine) specialist first and take it from there.
Hope this helps.
