Is A Low Density Area On The Pancreas A Symptom Of Cancer?
Brief Answer:
Pancreatic lesion
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns
I am sorry to hear that a CT scan locate a low density region in your pancreas. This is usually related to fluid or damage to the pancreas. If you have history of pancreatitis then this is reflecting that damage. More than usual the cause of a low density lesion is not malignant. On CT scan the appearance would be more worrisome and not a vague low density region. I think waiting for 2 months is okay as long as you are not in pain or discomfort.
I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions

What is usually done about this lesion. Is lesion a cyst? Thank u for your assistance because I am worried.
Brief Answer:
Pseudocysts
Detailed Answer:
With a cyst in the pancreas we only watch these lesions. There is no treatment other than to reduce the cause of a pseudocyst which is recurrent pancreatitis. The causes of pancreatitis are alcohol abuse, high triglycerides and gall stones blocking the pancreatic duct.
Pseudocysts are by themselves benign. It is the causes of the cysts that can cause problems
