Is A Lump On The Forehead A Sign Of Lipoma?

default
Posted on Wed, 22 Feb 2017
Question: I had a spindle cell lipoma removed from forehead almost 2 years ago. Now I am rubbing my forehead and I found another lump on the other side of my forehead. Is it likely that I would develop another? It feels similar, it is a hard rubbery, maybe a bit more "rounder" and it is very moveable, more moveable than the other. I am a hypochondriac (on my chart with my GP) so I always worry. Questions - What are the chances this is just another benign lipoma and second question is I want it removed but my other excursion left a terrible scar, should I leave it alone. It is small now, but I am concerned with its growth. Frank

Brief Answer:
Yes new lipomas are possible.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to HealthCareMagic, I am Dr Muhammd Ahmad, I have closely read your question and I understand your concerns, I will hereby guide you regarding your health related problem.

In a person who has had a history of lipoma there are more than 50% chances that he can get other new ones as well , so simple answer to your question is that YES you can have a lipoma again too.

Answering to your other question , first of all you have to get it checked up if it needs to be removed you can get a cosmetic surgeon involved, who will take care of the scar these are not big problems now a days. But first thing first talk to your doctor about this he will look into the swelling if he finds that it is a lipoma but small in size, he might suggest you to leave it as it is but if it is large enough in size or is affecting your every day life then you can discuss removing it and involving a cosmetic surgeon to take care of the scar.

I hope this answered your question, if you have more feel free to ask, otherwise close the discussion and rate it.

Regards.
