I do not know the type of lung biopsy or if I am going to have one. I am just curious as to the dangers of a lung biopsy for me, an 83 year old male in good health except for ILD.
Brief Answer:
This depends on type of procedure and severity of the ILD.

Thanks for your follow up question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Honestly speaking, there are certain complications with this procedure. Common complications are pneumothorax, hemoptysis, bronchopulmonary fistula, lung infection etc.
But the risk of these complications depends on
1. Type of lung Biopsy technique
2. Severity and lung involvement in ILD.
High risk of these lung complications is seen with Trans thoracic lung Biopsy and with end stage ILD.
So discuss in depth about these complications in your case with your doctor.
