In heart patients it should be lower, for short time it's ok not for long.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing.

I am Dr.Muhammad Ahmad. I have read your question completely, i understand your concern and will try to help you in best way possible.

I am a training cardiologist and i will explain things to you.

Normal heart rate is 60-100 per minutes, anything above or below it is considered out of the normal range. But here are a few factors to consider.

1) In fever heart rate increases and more than hundred is considered normal.
2) In fear, stress, exercise, anemia , hyperthyroidism , the heart rate can normally stay above 100.
3) In a normal patient if heart rate is 106 this is considered ok if this is for a short period of time but if resting heart rate in a normal individual always stays beyong 100 it needs to be considered important.
(By normal i mean no heart and other issues)
4) In a heart patient heart rate us usually kept around 60-70/min if its 106 it is more than desired.

Now if there is no reason like fear, fever, stress ..coffee..caffeine..pain..excitement, anemia or skipping a medicine dose, then it shouldn't be more than 100 for long.

I would suggest you to look into the reasons i have mentioned here and if there is no such reason I would like you to keep monitoring your heart rate, if it goes down in a couple of hours, it's fine otherwise i would advise you to contact your cardiologist regarding that.

Best thing is such situations is to take a nap this lowers down heart rate and avoid stimulants like coffee caffiene energy drinks.

I hope this answered your question, a
if you have more please feel free to ask.

Regrads.
