Is A Small Pus Filled Bump On The Penis A Concern?

default
Posted on Fri, 7 Oct 2016
Question: hello. I was concerned a couple weeks ago with a small bump on my penis. I had always had a little black head and could sometimes squeeze it to clear it up and am pretty sure it was a clogged hair follicle. Recently there was a hair growing out of it and when i plucked it the small bump appeared. I then stupidly picked at it and it got irritated. I asked a doctor on here and sent a picture and he thought it was a blocked hair follicle comedone. Now the irritation went away and there is a small crater and i and I dont like how it looks. It is slightly darker than the rest of my skin. Is there anything I can do to clear it up? Thanks so much

Brief Answer:
Seems to be folliculitis, apply topical antibiotic

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at Health Care Magic.
I am Dr Asmeet Kaur Sawhney, Dermatologist.

According to your complaints it seems you are having folliculitis which is due to inflammation of the hair follicle.

If I was your treating doctor I would recommend you to apply a topical antibiotic like Mupirocin cream or Neosporin ointment on the affected area twice daily for 7 days.

This should resolve it. Please let me know if there's any further queries.
Regards
Dr Asmeet
