Is An Irregular Heartbeat Dangerous?
Question: How dangerous are skipped heartbeats?
Brief Answer:
Small amount can be seen in healthy subjects and it is not dangerous
Detailed Answer:
Dear Mrs,
The sensation of skipped beat can be caused by a specific type of arrhythmia, which called premature beat. In this case one beat comes earlier than it should be and the following beat comes in time, so the time between two beats prolonged and it seems there is a skipped beat.
A small amount of premature contractions up to 300-500 per day can be normal finding and it is not dangerous.
But if you have frequent skipped beats I would advise you to see your doctor to perform ECG
Hope I could help you
Wishing you good health

I have had a Holter monitor test last week and it did show occasional skipped beats, which in any case I can feel. Last year I was diagnosed with left branch bundle block. Are the skipped beats related to that?
Brief Answer:
Occasional skipped beats are not dangerous and not related to LBBB
Detailed Answer:
Dear Mrs,
Usually occasional extrasystolies (skipped beats) are not dangerous and not related to LBBB (Left Bundle Branch Block).
In case of small amount of extrasystolies there is no need for treatment, unless the patient is very symptomatic.
Hope I could help you
