Brief Answer: No,there is no risk for you. Detailed Answer: Hello there, Thanks for writing to us, There are no risks for doing colonoscopy for beckers muscular dystrophy persons. The only thing that I would like you to do is make sure that the anesthetist who will be giving you sedation during the procedure is aware of your condition. That way they can adjust their medication plan accordingly. Also, if you have any skeletal deformity associated with you like scoliosis and kyphosis (defect in spine of person),there are chances of difficulty in maneuvering the colonoscope ,unless otherwise it is normal. As Beckers runs in family, I also advice your family members to get GENETIC COUNSELING. Take care. Dr.surendiran.g
