Is Cramping With And Thick Brown Blood Discharge Symptoms Of Miscarriage?

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
Yes, a miscarriage is possible as you were not very particular with the pill.
Please take a pregnancy test right away.
Also, such altered spotting could indicate an ectopic pregnancy also.
Anxiety, weight gain, erratic eating or sleep, alcohol, smoking, birth control - all can lead to erratic spotting.
IF the test is negative, then you can wait it out.
IF the spotting persists or recurs, please go for a comprehensive gynecological evaluation - internal check up ( per vaginum and per speculum ), pelvic ultrasound scan, and hormonal levels ( FSH, LH, TSH, Prolactin, OGTT , DHEAS, Free testosterone ).
This would eliminate possible causes such as PCOD ( polycystic ovarian disease ), hypothyroidism, endometrial hyperplasia etc.
All the best
Please feel free to discuss further.

Thanks

Detailed Answer:
In most cases , a negative pregnancy test means that there is no pregnancy or related event, including a miscarriage.
However, in early miscarriages, or ectopic pregnancy, sometimes the test might come up negative.
A scan would confirm this, however if it is a week away, you can meanwhile take a blood pregnancy test which would also be confirmatory.
Take care.
