Is Deviated Septum Related To Stammering?
Question: Dear Sir,
I've had a stammering problem since early childhood.
Since from when I was 10-12 years old.
Also, since early adulthood I've had issues with cough, congestion, breathing and similar issues all throughout the year.
Recently I've been having some allergy issues for which I visited a E & T Doctor.
It was then when I found out that I have a deviated nasal septum.
Now as far as I can remember since early childhood, I've had some problems with breathing.
Like I couldn't even blow a lighted candle off in a one go (just an example)
Or had trouble blowing up a balloon
or other examples like that..
Now my only and most important question is..
Is there any way at all that Deviated Septum and Stammering are related??
I'm well aware there stammering is also a mental problem. I've had several treatments for it since childhood. And I've also researched it thoroughly many times.
But at the same time I also know that stammering is caused by irregular breathing pattern. Which I have been told that I suffer from (irregular breathing pattern) by many speech therapists as well.
And would doing a surgery for Deviated Septum help (even if in a little way) with my stammering issue??

Brief Answer:
Deviated Septum not related Stammering
Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir,
I have gone through your query; and suggests you that Deviated nasal septum not related to the stammering.
Causes of the stammering are unclear but most of think that it is related with psychological, genetic and environmental factor.
Best treatment to this condition is the speech therapy continuous for the 6 month at least.
Thanks

Thanks for the reply.
And I'm well aware of that stammering is mostly related to psychological, environmental and other factors.
But I also know that irregular breathing also contributes to it to some extent.
Deviated nasal septum does affect Breathing, right?
I've also had issues with sleep since many years..
Many times I've suffered from insomnia.
And on other times, I haven't felt refreshed even after sleeping for many hours.
I've been told that deviated nasal septum can cause sleep issues n breathing troubles.
Which in turn can lead to other issues like hairfall etc.
I'm also suffering from Alopecia Areta (bald patches) on my head for which I was told by professional doctors that it's due to the lack of sleep n other stress related factors.
So was just wondering that wouldn't a corrective surgery for deviated nasal septum correct my irregular breathing which in turn would lead to correction of sleep issues plus less hairfall. And wouldn't a regular n free flow breathing have a positive impact on my breathing to a certain extent, even if in a minimalistic way??
Please do let me know..

Yes, I agree with your doctor regarding hair fall. I suggest you eat healthy food. Avoid stress by doing meditation, yoga and pranayamam which improves your breathing problem as well
