Is Elevated Heart Rate Related To Asthma?
Question: 10 year old grandson has elevated heart rate lasting for 1 1/2 hours after sports, ekg normal, echo of heart normal, could this be asthma related?

Heart rate was 200 for the hour and half. Could this cause damage to the heart?

Yes , If left uncontrolled further can cause problem.
Now one has to examine him and decide. Each individual reacts differently.
Asthma can cause mild to moderate tachycardia when there is acute attack.( but not usually up to 200/ mt)
Drugs like salbutamol can cause tachycardia( used for asthma).
Hyperthyroidism is another non cardiac cause.
