Question: Should endo clips loose in abdominal cavity (fallen out from cholecystectomy) be removed if the are found at the site of otherwise unexplainable pain?

Brief Answer: Yes, Endoclips can be removed. Detailed Answer: Hi. A good question. Yes, this is a very rare( I can say) sequel and in your case a complication that the clip is lying at the site of pain. This can even be a coincidental finding. It remains to see the other causes of pain are ruled out. A possible good idea would be to do a diagnostic Laparoscopy. It allows to directly see that there is no other disease possibly causing the pain. And definitely allows to remove the clips. I think by this time the clips are well enveloped into the fibrous tissue. Most probable reason I can think of is that it is touching a small sensory nerve . Yes, endoclips can be removed if they are found at a site of otherwise unexplained pain.
