Is Endometrium Thickeness Of 2.6 Cm A Cause For Concern?
Question: Hello,
I had an ultrasound that showed my endometrium to be thickened at 2.6cm and two vasular masses hypoechoic to slightly isoechoic to the adjacent endmetrium. They were both 1 cm. It then said they could be polyps or pedunculated submucosal fibroids. They also said they had quite marked vascularity. I am 30 years old. I am terrified I will have cancer

First you need not to worry.it will not cause cancer.
Endometrium thickness is normal.
Polyp or pedunculated fibroid is removable by hysteroscopy. it is day care surgery. You can go home same day.
These two may cause symptoms like heavy bleeding or some times there is no symptoms

Thank you. I have an appointment for obgyn. My periods have been regular but prolonged. Are fibroids and polyps vascular on ultrasounds? Why couldn't the radiologist say whether they were polyps or fibroids?

Submucosal fibroids typically have an overlying layer of echogenic endometrium, which helps confirm their subendometrial location and helps distinguish them from endometrial polyps.
But it is quite difficult to distinguish them on ultrasound.
The best confirmation could be done by a histopathological examination of mass after surgical removal.
The chances of cancer in those masses is very minimal, as low as 1 in 10000 cases.
Do not worry about this.

Would these both cause the endometrium to be thickened? This was the day before my period started and the endometrium should have only been 16mm XXXXXXX but mine was 26mm
