Is Enlarged Circumvallate Papillae A Kind Of Oral Cancer?

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Jun 2014
Question: Hello. I'm awaiting a dental appointment and I'm very nervous. I have (what I think are) enlarged circumvallate papillae and some occasional discomfort in the back of my mouth/throat. I've seen my GP recently and and ENT within the past 6 months and neither was concerned. The internet tends to mention enlarged papillae in the same breath as oral cancer, and I've become very nervous about my condition.

Brief Answer:
papillitis, fibroma, lipoma, excision

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query. the enlarged paipillae could be a circum vallate papillitis or any fibroma or lipoma arising form the tongue.

I am not concerned about cancers. Consult your oral physician and get your self examined and confirm the diagnosis.

I hope you don't smoke or chew tobacco. If you do, it's time to quit it.

Your doctor might start you on antiinflammatory drugs along with topical analgesic and anesthetics which should help you.

I hope my answer will help you. If any queries are there you can reply me back.

Take care.
