Is Enlarged Ventricle In Fetus A Matter Of Concern?
Suggestive of mild ventriculomegaly.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for getting back.
I have noted the size of ventricles- between 1.2 and 1.3 cm. The ventricle size below 1.5 cm is suggestive of mildly enlarged ventricles (ventriculomegaly).
Since there are not other problems identified in the brain, the chances of any major problems with the brain is less. At the most, mild developmental delay may be there. So, there is no need to worry.
I hope my reply has helped you.
I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.
Best wishes,

I am worried about if they continue to get bigger...does this condition always lead to hydrocephalus? Is the outcome ok if they get over 1.5 CM? Does that automatically mean water on brain? How does that effect prognosis for development?
Most likely they would not get bigger.

Thank you for getting back.
In most cases, the ventricles do not continue to get bigger. Larger ventricle size means hydrocephalus (more water in the brain), but the severity is very mild now.
If the size is more than 1.5 cm, developmental delay may occur. The exact extent or degree of developmental delay varies in different children.
