Question: Is it better to workout or not workout the following day if you've had three glasses of wine with dinner the night before. I'm a 64 y/o make was successfully cardioinverted on XXXXXXX 3, 2016; have had no subsequent afib symptoms and I've taking Multaq, beta-blocker and Xyrelto.
Brief Answer:
I would not recommend working out after alcohol intake.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!
Regarding your concern, I would explain that alcohol intake can trigger cardiac arrhythmia. This is also called " Holiday heart syndrome".
From the other hand workout ( physical activity) can increase heart rate and even trigger cardiac arrhythmia in susceptible persons.
So I would not recommend working out the day after drinking alcohol, because you may trigger cardiac arrhythmia.
Hope to have been helpful!
