Is Fertigyn Safe To Take During Pregnancy?
Question: Hi Doctor,
I am in early stage of pregnancy. My last period started on 15-Mar-2014 and after that I had fist physical relation on 21 or 22 Mar. Pregnancy result was positive. On doctor advice I had an USG of early early pregnancy on 10-May-2014 which result was :
Content: An indistinct yolk seen.
Average gestational age: 05 weeks 03 days +/- 1 week
Internal Os: Closed
Impression: A single intra-uterine gestational sac corresponding to 5 weeks 3 days +/1 1 week
In the Beta-HCG (mIU/ml) test the result was 4100.
after showing these result to doctor, she advised to take 5 Fertigyn 5000 injection every alternate days for 10 days. Is there any problem?

Hi
I read your query and I understand your concerns.
The injection your doctor prescribed for you is an hCG injection which rescues corpus luteum and supports pregnancy.
It is safe and can be taken. Doctor has prescribed this probably keeping in mind that previously you had aborted.
Let me know if you have any more questions

As per the doctor, the average gestational age (which is 05 weeks 3 days +/- 1 week shown in USG report) and BETA-HCG count(4100) is low considering the LMP(15-Mar-2014). But we had first physical relationship after LMP on 21-22nd Mar. So considering the date of last physical relationship and both of the above data, is there any problem seen?
Brief Answer:
No
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Considering the date of intercourse the dates on ultrasound dont match and beta hCG is low.
But the pregnancy could have occurred in physical contact after 25 th march. That is why the above findings dont match.
In another way if baby has stopped growing the low values can be explained. Therefore doctor has given medicines to help baby grow if there is problem.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
