Is Heart Rate Of 115 Bpm A Cause For Concern?
Question: I take medication for heart disease. My normal resting heart rate on meds is low 80's. I have a fever of 102.5 and my heart rate is 115. No chest pain or other symptoms. Should I go to the hospital?
Brief Answer:
Taking paracetamol or acetaminophen should provide relief
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
Fever is usually associated with rise in heart rate and so I would not really get concerned. Most often fever is due to certain viral infections where antibiotics are not required. You need to take paracetamol or acetaminophen as required in order to bring down the temperature. Tepid sponging will also be helpful.
Usually such fevers last for 5-7 days before resolving. I would insist you to wait. It is only if you have other symptoms like chills and rigors or if the fever persists beyond 7 days that you need to go to the hospital.
