Is It Advisable To Give Apple Cider Vinegar To Patient With Paralysis And Stomach Issues?
Please give details.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Noted Medical history, current medications, current problems of Paralysis Left Hemiparesis ( March 9)- She is showing recovery - Physiotherapist say she needs more energy - She has hypothyroidism, Chronic stomach issue - she has loose stools in morning several times for few hours then she is OK, also has gas & cramps - So you are afraid to give her supplements - Giving boiled apple and orange - Wants advise in healthy foods -
My thoughts:
Let us discuss some practical issues related to this topic and you being daughter will understand my points the best.
- Due to paralysis on March 9, the patient must not have taken normal food at all or was not given at all.
- Family members start giving such things to the patient that was not tasted by the patient or is disliked in many cases by the patients.
I would like to ask a few questions so that I can advise you better: Please give me the details:
- Is your Mother taking any solid foods or foods made at home? I mean can she chew and swallow?
- What are the foods and beverages your Mother likes the most ?
- When was the Thyroid function test done- if not recently, please get her Free T3, Free T4 and TSH levels.
- Any opinion of a specialist, investigations of the stools, CT scan / colonoscopy done for the intestinal issues? Any medications for this problems per se?
- What sis the daily diet and liquids are you giving?
- Did you consult any Dietitian ?
- What is the present position of your Mother as far as paralysis is concerned - bed-ridden or moving around in chair or so. ?
I am a bit sorry for a long list, I still want to ask more, but a favorable answer from you will help us both to plan a great diet and management for your Mother to recover fully.
Awaiting for your feedback

Thanks for the Feedback.
And in XXXXXXX you say; I am practicing in XXXXXXX only.
Awaiting for the reports.
Since your Mother can take orally, I would strongly recommend a absolutely normal diet as she was taking before the Paralysis. Ask the patient what she wants- is the dictum and follow her choice including sweets. (if she is not diabetic).
Where was she admitted and where is she residing now?
Will discuss further on getting your feedback and reports.
